Guidelines include:
• Avoiding frequent consumption of juice or other sugar-containing drinks in the bottle or sippy cup,
• discouraging the behavior of a child sleeping with a bottle,
• promoting noncariogenic foods for snacks,
• fostering eating patterns consistent with the Food Guide Pyramid,
• limiting cariogenic foods to mealtimes,
• rapidly clearing cariogenic foods from the child’s oral cavity either by toothbrushing or by consumption of protective foods,
• and restricting sugar-containing snacks that are slowly eaten (e.g., candy, cough drops, lollipops, suckers).
➡️ Along with nutritional factors, a comprehensive approach to preventing dental caries in preschool children must include improved general dietary habits, good oral hygiene, appropriate use of fluorides, and access to preventive and restorative dental care.

3) Ascorbic acid:
Vitamin C: Deficiency is well recognized as producing severe changes in the periodontal tissue and pulps of the teeth. Vitamin C plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of the teeth and also as an non-enzymatic antioxidant defence system. Serum and salivary Vitamin C level decreases with increase in caries activity suggesting the powerful antioxidant property of vitamin C.
Vitamin C acts by neutralizing the free radicals. Vitamin C is
essential for the formation and maturation of collagen, and for the integrity of connective and osteoid tissues, and dentin.

4) Flouride Application
- Mode of Action: Precipitates fluoroapatite (enamel more resistant to caries attack)
- Mineralization of hypomineralized areas.
🔹 Effects:
- ⬆️ Resistance
- ⬆️ post-operative maturation
- ⬆️ Remineralization
- Prevents bacterial adhesion
- Modifies tooth morphology during tooth development if ingested.
5) Pit & Fissure Sealants:

The sealant forms a smooth, protective barrier by covering all the little grooves and dips in the surface of the tooth. Dental decay easily starts in these grooves if they are not sealed.
🔹 Conclusion:

The emotions you have when you lose part of your finger should be the same when you lose part of your tooth. Treat them both equally..They are equally devastating!
